2000 Marius Shiraz    

      2000 McLaren Vale Shiraz                           

The 2000 Marius Shiraz is the inaugural release from Marius Wines.

It is a hand-crafted single-vineyard wine from my vineyard which is situated on rising ground to the south-east of McLaren Vale township and enjoys complex soils of clay, loam and alluvial gravels.

The fruit was hand-picked in late March 2000 at a yield of less than three tonnes per acre.

Grape variety:  100% shiraz.

Region:  100% McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Oak maturation:  15 months in 60% new and 40% second-use French oak.

Colour:  Deep crimson.

Bouquet:  Subtle, ripe plum and savoury oak.

Palate:  Ripe plum and blackberry fruit flavours with cedary integrated French oak produces an intense velvety richness which persists in a long, textured finish with smooth but firm tannins.

Food matching: Serve at room temperature with grilled red meats, strong cheeses or anything hedonistically flavoursome.
